Grant Information
Social Justice Works! The Aaronson Fund was created to honor the legacy of progressive education, to salute those who are continuing the struggle for a just and equitable society, and to provide financial support for high school graduates of the Cambridge Public Schools who are working for social justice in a variety of fields.
Now, in the spring of 2008, Social Justice Works (SJW) is launching its first grant program. SJW invites grant applications from high school graduates of the Cambridge Public Schools who are working to promote social justice and to build vibrant communities. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded on the basis of merit and vision.
All applicants must:
- Be graduates of the Cambridge Public Schools, in either traditional or alternative high school programs.
- Submit their application materials postmarked by June 25th, 2008 (see address below)
- Currently work or volunteer in the nonprofit sector [501(C)(3)] or public sector.
- Be involved in projects that directly advance and promote issues of social justice in one or more of the following areas:
- Public Education
- Conflict Resolution
- Disaster Recovery
- Environmental Protection
- Graphic and Performing Arts
- Health and Social Work
- Child Welfare
- Housing
- Public Law
- Peace Work
- Civic Participation
- Racial, Gender, Class, and Sexual Orientation Justice
